Demonstrations for Norwegian Defence Sector

Skarv Technologies has recently concluded a demonstration of our Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) BlueSTAR for the Norwegian Defense Sector in Horten. The event was coordinated by Forsvarets Forsknings Institutt (FFI) and the ICE Worx-group on behalf of NATO DIANA. The AUV-system is a dual-use technology product for large-scale optical seafloor mapping and has capabilities that allow imagery to be recorded under high water turbidity conditions; a feature that is relevant for underwater security and surveillance.

The AUV-system features 6 DOFs, specialized lights, a proprietary high-resolution video camera, and several image analysis tools. The AUV can automatically follow the seabed and produce seamless underwater maps. Skarv Technologies also has machine vision systems to monitor changes over time and man-made object detection, making it useful for detecting hazards on unknown seafloor objects. The system is compact and affordable compared to larger AUVs with similar capabilities; its small size also makes it is easy to handle and deploy.
