▌Description

The CORAX AUV is a purpose-built vehicle system optimized for high-resolution optical and acoustical seafloor mapping. Engineered for close-range seabed efficiency, it can be deployed, controlled, and recovered by a minimal crew, making it ideal for both routine surveys and specialized mapping missions. The CORAX’s core configuration includes a robust computational platform, high-resolution cameras, forward looking sonar, and precision navigation sensors. Additional capabilities can be expanded through modular integration of additional sensors, communication systems, and specialized mapping payloads. The system can be delivered with up to four batteries for operations beyound 24 hrs.

Large-Scale Optical Seafloor Mapping

Skarv Technologies has successfully completed a large-scale optical survey in Nordland using the CORAX 600 AUV/ROV system. The survey encompassed a single site covering an area of 40 000 m2 or 10 km video transect with 4 m swath, depths down to 100 m. The 4K video is processed online using Skarv´s data-toolbox to form a georeferenced seamless image mosaic. This high-resolution data is then piped onwards for automated and manual inspection by biologists. Working with high-resolution georeferenced maps instead of video greatly improves interpretation, allowing identification of spatial relationships and features covering multiple frames.
